About
Porty Play Therapy was started in 2025 with the aim of offering local mental health support for children. I aim to offer a flexible approach with sessions available in a dedicated playroom, or in school/nursery. All sessions are fundamentally child-centred and neuro-affirming.

About Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a model of therapy aimed at children aged roughly 3-13, based on the understanding that play is the natural language of children. It offers a developmentally appropriate approach that naturally meets children where they are.
Play Therapy sessions are child-led, with the therapist facilitating the child's play. Children are naturally drawn to 'play out' things that are bothering them, whether these are present difficulties or past experiences.
Play Therapy has been proven to be effective in reducing children's difficulties caused by anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, parental separation, bullying, and more. Play Therapy is not a short-term quick fix; it supports the formulation of new neural pathways and skills that will last long term.
